Taylor Swift Sings Another Hit with 'SNL' Monologue

By Dave Paris on November 8, 2009

NEW YORK — Taylor Swift has written another hit song, this one in the form of her hilarious Saturday Night Live monologue.

The first-time host fired plenty of shots in her musical number dubbed "Monologue Song (La La La)," including one directed at her former flame, Joe Jonas.

"You might think I'd bring up Joe, that guy who broke up with me on my phone, but I'm not going to mention him," sang Swift. "Hey Joe, I'm doing real well. Tonight I'm hosting SNL, but I'm not going to brag about that."

Swift also had news for people thinking she's since found love in the arms of Taylor Lautner.

"If you're wondering if I might be dating a werewolf from Twilight," sang Swift, who then mouthed, "Hi, Taylor" and blew a kiss.

As expected, the 19-year-old star also had something for Kanye West, who famously interrupted her speech at September's MTV Video Music Awards.

"You might be expecting me to say something bad about Kanye," sang Swift in a somber tone.

"But there's nothing more to say because everything's okay, I've got security lining the stage," she continued while being flanked by SNL cast members Bill Hader and Jason Sudeikis.

LOS ANGELES — Taylor Swift scored six nominations while Michael Jackson followed close behind with five to lead the field of nominees for the 2009 American Music Awards, organizers announced Tuesday.

Both Swift and Jackson will compete for artist of the year at the Nov. 22 ceremony, along with pop star Lady Gaga, rapper Eminem and rock band Kings of Leon.

Brad Paisley, Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift to Perform at CMA Awards

By Matt Murai on October 5, 2009

NASHVILLE — Brad Paisley, Carrie Underwood and Taylor Swift will be among the star-packed list of performers at the 43rd Annual CMA Awards show, organizers announced Monday.

Others slated to perform include Brooks & Dunn, Kenny Chesney, Reba McEntire, Darius Rucker, George Strait, Sugarland and Keith Urban.

Paisley racked up six nominations, including a nod for entertainer of the year, to lead the field of nominees for the CMA's announced last month. The 36-year-old singer was also nominated for male vocalist, album for "American Saturday Night," single and song for "Then," and music video for "Start a Band" with Keith Urban.

Swift became the first female artist to receive a nod for entertainer of the year since Faith Hill in 2000. Shania Twain was the last female artist to win the coveted honor, scoring her victory in 1999. In another first for the 19-year-old singer, she was nominated for album of the year for "Fearless."

Strait, meanwhile, now has 79 career CMA Awards nominations, tying him with Alan Jackson. He leads the trophy count with 22 during the course of his distinguished career.

Another artist looking to add to their trophy count is Underwood, who picked up two nods. The former "American Idol" star will be in search of her fourth straight female vocalist of the year title.

Rucker, who released his debut solo country album in 2008, received his first two CMA nominations for new artist and male vocalist.

This year's ceremony, which will be hosted by Paisley and Underwood, will air live from the Sommet Center in Nashville on Nov. 11 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.

Oh, Kanye West is here! Cool haircut! What are you doing there? And then, ouch. And then, I guess I'm not going to thank the fans.' "

"I'm not going to say that I wasn't rattled by it," added Swift, "but I had to perform live five minutes later so I had get myself back to the place where I could perform."

West called Swift moments after her appearance on the show to personally apologize to her.

"Kanye did call me, and he was very sincere in his apology, and I accepted that apology," she told ABC News Radio.
