Jay Mariotti, Former ESPN Commentator, Ordered to Stand Trial in Stalking, Assault Case

LOS ANGELES – Former ESPN commentator Jay Mariotti must stand trial on charges he stalked, injured and assaulted his ex-girlfriend, a judge ruled Tuesday.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Mark Windham found there to be sufficient evidence for Mariotti to stand to trial on one felony count each of stalking, corporal injury to a spouse or cohabitant and assault by means likely to produce great bodily injury. He also faces two misdemeanor counts of disobeying a domestic court order.
Yankees' Mariano Rivera Helping Restore Old NY Church

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – It's another save for Mariano Rivera.
A Christian congregation that includes the star Yankees reliever is taking over a century-old church in a New York City suburb and promising to restore it.
Rivera said at a news conference Tuesday that he fell in love with the North Avenue Church in New Rochelle the moment he saw it. Rivera says his Spanish-language congregation had been looking for a permanent home.

Ex-NHL Player Matthew Barnaby Accused of Criminal Mischief

AMHERST, N.Y. – ESPN hockey analyst and former NHL player Matthew Barnaby pleaded not guilty Saturday to charges stemming from an argument with his estranged wife at an upstate New York home.
The 38-year-old Barnaby was arrested Friday and spent the night in jail after being picked up at a home in Getzville, a hamlet in Amherst where his wife and two children live, police said.
Hines Ward Briefly Held at Gunpoint in Police Mix-Up

LOS ANGELES – Los Angeles police say Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver and "Dancing With the Stars" contestant Hines Ward was briefly detained at gunpoint in a mix-up over a reported stolen car but has been released.
Sgt. Maria Morrison says Hines and a woman friend were stopped in her car at about 1:30 a.m. Thursday in North Hollywood because the woman had reported it stolen.

The Indianapolis Colts quarterback and his wife Ashley welcomed twins late last month, the Marion County Health Department confirmed Wednesday.
Daughter Mosley Thompson Manning and son Marshall Williams Manning were born March 31 in Indianapolis.
NBA Probing Jay-Z's Visit to Kentucky Wildcats Locker Room

NEW YORK – An NBA spokesman confirms that the league is investigating Jay-Z's presence in Kentucky's locker room after the Wildcats clinched a Final Four berth.
The rapper visited the players after their victory over North Carolina on Sunday at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J, home of the Nets. Jay-Z is a part-owner of the team and attended the Nets' 120-116 loss at New York on Wednesday.
