NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – It's another save for Mariano Rivera.
A Christian congregation that includes the star Yankees reliever is taking over a century-old church in a New York City suburb and promising to restore it.
Rivera said at a news conference Tuesday that he fell in love with the North Avenue Church in New Rochelle the moment he saw it. Rivera says his Spanish-language congregation had been looking for a permanent home.

ATLANTA – Eddie Montgomery of the country duo Montgomery Gentry thought he was only getting a sore hip checked out when his doctor spotted a "shadow" on his X-ray. It turned out to be prostate cancer.
The singer was diagnosed in November, a time he describes as one of the most frightening of his life. But he was able to have the tumor surgically removed.
Alabama Tornado Benefit Concert Raises $2 Million

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Organizers of the June 14 Bama Rising tornado relief benefit concert headlined by the country music group Alabama say the event raised more than $2 million.
More than 13,000 people attended the concert at Birmingham's Civic Complex to help raise money for recovery efforts throughout the state. The group Alabama and a variety of others performed.
Concert organizer Ali Harnell said the event made more than $1 million through ticket sales alone.
Angelina Jolie Visits Syrian Refugees in Turkey

ALTINOZU, Turkey – U.N. envoy Angelina Jolie traveled to Turkey's border with Syria on Friday to meet some of the thousands of Syrian refugees who have fled their government's bloody crackdown on dissent.
The Hollywood celebrity and goodwill ambassador for the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees arrived in the Turkish province of Hatay on a private jet with boxes of toys for the refugee camps.
There are nearly 10,000 Syrian refugees in camps inside Turkey.

ISTANBUL – Turkey says Angelina Jolie can visit Syrian refugees who have fled violence and are camped out on the Turkish side of the border.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Selcuk Unal said Wednesday the Hollywood celebrity and goodwill ambassador for the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees might arrive in Turkey on Friday, but that the date remains uncertain.
Unal said Turkey granted permission to visit after assessing an application submitted on Jolie's behalf.
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt Foundation Donates $500,000 to Joplin

JOPLIN, Mo. – Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are donating $500,000 from their foundation to help Joplin rebuild from the deadly tornado that struck the southwest Missouri town last month.
The Community Foundation of the Ozarks says the gift from the Jolie-Pitt Foundation will go to mid- and long-term needs in the tornado-ravaged city. The Community Foundation announced the gift Friday in a news release.
Jeff Bridges in Virginia to Combat Childhood Hunger

ARLINGTON, Va. – Oscar winner Jeff Bridges is lending his star power to a public-private partnership in Virginia to combat childhood hunger.
Bridges joined Gov. Bob McDonnell and U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack at Barcroft Elementary in Arlington for the start of Virginia's No Kid Hungry campaign. The program will connect low-income kids to federal nutrition programs, like those that provide lunches during summer when school's out.

The rocker visited a youth services center in New Jersey's largest city on Monday as the final stop on a "listening tour with disengaged youth."
