LOS ANGELES – Simon Cowell wants the US 'X Factor' to be more successful 'American Idol'.

The music mogul - who quit as a judge on 'American Idol' to kick start the new version of the pop star search show - will "die trying" to be the most watched program, and he is confident 'The X Factor' will become the best series of its kind.

LOS ANGELES – Metta World Peace has been voted off 'Dancing with the Stars'.

The basketball player - who was formerly known as Ron Artest - and partner Peta Mergatroyd departed the celebrity ballroom contest last night after failing to impress with their cha cha on Monday.

Metta said afterwards: "I had a great, great time . It was awesome.

"All I want to know is who's coming with me? Peta was great. Everybody give a round of applause for Peta, she was awesome!

LOS ANGELES – Cher thinks her son's decision to appear on 'Dancing with the Stars' is as scary as his sex change.

The 'Believe' singer joked that Chaz Bono - who was born a girl but underwent gender reassignment surgery - is lacking the right moves for when he appears on 'Dancing with the Stars', which starts on September 19.

In a surprise phone call to 'The Ellen DeGeneres show' - on which Chaz was appearing as a guest - Cher joked: "I got to tell you something. You doing this dance is about as scary as you making the 'change.'"

NEW YORK – NBC says the four musician-coaches who have helped make "The Voice" a summer hit will be back for the next round of the vocal competition.

NBC said Thursday that Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton will all return when "The Voice" resumes in midseason next year.

The series concluded its first cycle on Wednesday. It features these musician-coaches (don't call them judges) working with the vocalists throughout the competition.
