Michael Jackson was energetic before death

By BANG Showbiz on September 28, 2011

Michael Jackson, pictures, picture, photos, photo, pics, pic, images, image, latest, new, 2010LOS ANGELES – Michael Jackson gave a "good rehearsal" just hours before his death, the jury heard at the second day of the trial into his death today.

Concert promoter Paul Gongaware told the Los Angeles court that Michael - who died from acute Propofol intoxication in June 2009 - was energetic and performing well in the days before he died as he rehearsed for his 50-night residency at London's The O2 for his 'This Is It' tour.

Speaking at the involuntary manslaughter trial of Dr. Conrad Murray - Michael's personal physician, who has been accused of administering the lethal dose of the anesthetic - Gongaware said: "He was fully engaged in rehearsals."

When asked if Michael gave a "good rehearsal", Gongaware replied: "Yes."

Before his testimony, the court was shown footage of Michael rehearsing which left his mother, Katherine Jackson, in tears.

Gongaware - an executive for AEG Live, which was promoting Michael's planned series of comeback concerts in 2009 - also revealed that it was Michael who had wanted to increase the number of concerts he was due to perform at The O2.

The promoter said that after the first 10 shows sold out almost instantaneously, Michael wanted to add another 21 dates as he was obsessed with breaking Prince's record of 21 shows at the arena.

Another AEG employee, attorney Kathy Jorrie, also took to the stand and said on the day before Michael's death, Murray told her the 50-year-old singer was in "perfect health".

She also revealed how the medic had requested that the purchase of a CPR machine was factored into his contract when working with Michael, as well as provisions to hire an additional nurse if in London if needed.

She said: "He wanted to make sure that there was somebody else available to be of assistance."

While the prosecution team allege Murray was responsible for Michael's death, the defense team claim Michael caused his own death by self administering the dose of Propofol that killed him.

If found guilty, Murray faces four years in jail. The trial continues.
