CHICAGO – Having brought her wildly successful talk show to a close after 25 years, Oprah Winfrey said Thursday says she's ready to devote her full attention to nurturing the six-month-old cable TV network that bears her name.
The Oprah Winfrey Network launched on Jan. 1, taking over what had been Discovery Health. As OWN was under development, Winfrey said she was also trying to finish the last 130 episodes of her syndicated TV talk show, the last episode of which aired on May 25.

NEW YORK – Preliminary figures show Wednesday's finale of "The Oprah Winfrey Show" scored its highest audience in 17 years.
The Nielsen Co. said Thursday that the final show delivered a 13.3 household rating in the nation's metered markets.
It was the highest number since February 1994. That's when an "Oprah" episode called "People Shed Their Disguises" got a 13.4 rating.

On "Jimmy Kimmel Live," Kimmel sang goodbye by performing the song "End of the Road" with R&B group Boyz II Men.

CHICAGO – Oprah Winfrey ended her famous talk show Wednesday by telling her viewers of 25 years that they weren't saying goodbye.
"I won't say goodbye, I'll just say until we meet again," Winfrey said.
She hugged and kissed her longtime partner Stedman Graham and shook hands with audience members before walking through the halls of Harpo Studios in Chicago, hugging and crying with her staff.

CHICAGO – Hundreds of giddy fans struck by their luck at getting tickets to be a part of history gathered outside Oprah Winfrey's television studio in Chicago Tuesday awaiting the taping of her final talk show.
The show being taped Tuesday afternoon will be the finale of "The Oprah Winfrey Show," according to Harpo Productions. The show will air on Wednesday.

Moreover, the Earth will almost certainly still be spinning on its axis.
Even in Chicago, the city Oprah Winfrey is abandoning, life is pretty sure to continue as normal. Expect the pizza to be as tasty and the gusts off Lake Michigan to be as persistent on Thursday as they were the day before.
This is not to say change isn't in the wind.
