'The King's Speech' Leads 2011 Academy Award Nominations

The King's Speech, Academy Awards, Oscars, nominations, pictures, picture, photos, photo, pics, pic, images, image, hot, sexy, latest, new, 2011HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — The King's Speech racked up 12 nominations, including best picture, to lead the field of contenders for the 2011 Academy Awards, organizers announced Tuesday.

The British drama also scored acting nods for Colin Firth, Helena Bonham Carter and Geoffrey Rush. In the film, Firth stars as George VI, who reluctantly takes over the throne of England when his brother, Edward, abdicates in 1936.

True Grit, a western remake by the Coen brothers, followed just behind with 10 nominations, including best picture and acting honors for Jeff Bridges and Hailee Steinfeld.

The other nominees for best picture are Black Swan, The Fighter, Inception, The Kids Are All Right, 127 Hours, The Social Network, Toy Story 3 and Winter's Bone.

Firth and Bridges will both compete for best actor honors. The rest of the field includes Javier Bardem for Biutiful, Jesse Eisenberg for The Social Network and James Franco for 127 Hours.

In the race for best actress, the nominees are Annette Bening for The Kids Are All Right, Nicole Kidman for Rabbit Hole, Jennifer Lawrence for Winter's Bone, Natalie Portman for Black Swan and Michelle Williams for Blue Valentine.

The 83rd Oscars, co-hosted by Franco and Anne Hathaway, will air live on ABC on Feb. 27. For a complete list of nominations, click here.
