Nicollette Sheridan Sheds Light on 'Desperate Housewives' Exit

By Chloe Bunker on April 14, 2009

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Nicollette Sheridan is opening up about her exit from "Desperate Housewives," a move the actress considers a "risky decision."

In the latest issue of TV Guide, the 45-year-old star talks about her reaction when she first heard the news that her character Edie Britt was finished on the show.

"I said, 'OK, sayonara. It's been a great ride. Thank you,' " she recalls, then warning, "[killing off Edie] was a risky decision that could have devastating ramifications."

That warning was directed at the show's creator, Marc Cherry, whom Sheridan believes has had it in for her from the beginning.

"Somebody up there really wanted her dead," Sheridan tells the magazine in reference to Cherry.

"I think that whoever Edie represented in Marc's life was somebody he didn't like," she adds. "And he had a very difficult time distinguishing between fact and fiction."

Cherry was quick to defend himself, saying Sheridan's exit wasn't personal.

"Edie's already slept with most of the guys on the street and has caused about as many problems as she could," he explains to the mag.

"There has been tremendous pressure put on me to find ways to cut costs," he continues. "The network is saying to all the shows: 'The company is really hurting financially. You must find a way to produce these shows more cheaply.' "

Sheridan wasn't about to buy Cherry's explanation after feeling from the beginning that she wasn't part of his big four — Teri Hatcher, Marcia Cross, Felicity Huffman and Eva Longoria Parker.

"When you have a jewel," she asks of Cherry, "why not polish it and put it out there for all to see?"

While part of her perhaps wishes things would have been different all along on Wisteria Lane, Sheridan says she's looking forward to the next chapter in her life.

"When the show started it was such a different beast. It was exciting and dangerous and funny and edgy and bizarre," says Sheridan. "It started feeling a little complacent, and that was very frustrating."

Nicollette Sheridan Leaving ‘Desperate Housewives’

By Rich King on February 12, 2009

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Nicollette Sheridan's days of living on Wisteria Lane are coming to an end.

The 45-year-old actress is leaving ABC's "Desperate Housewives" after five seasons, a rep for the star confirmed to TV Guide.

"[Nicollette] had a great time on the show and is looking forward to her next project," a rep for Sheridan said in a statement.

There has been no official word from the network on how Sheridan's character, real estate agent Edie Britt, will depart the smash series, but E! News reports that she will be killed off in an accident involving a car and an electrical wire.

Kathryn Joosten, who stars as Karen McCluskey on the show, told E! that Sheridan broke the news to the cast yesterday afternoon, calling her exit remarks "totally professional."

Sheridan has starred on the series since its debut in 2004, although her screen time has often been less than her fellow co-stars — Eva Longoria Parker, Marcia Cross, Teri Hatcher and Felicity Huffman.

Nicollette Sheridan Gets Birthday Kisses From David Spade

By Chloe Bunker on November 24, 2008

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Nicollette Sheridan turned 45 Friday and David Spade made sure it was a night to remember.

A source tells People magazine that the pair locked lips as the "Desperate Housewives" star celebrated her birthday at Beverly Hills hot spot Luau.

Oddly enough, Sheridan and Spade didn't arrive together, nor did they start the evening in the same booth. Sheridan was dining with fellow castmates Felicity Huffman, Neal McDonough and Kyle MacLachlan when Spade suddenly appeared.

"They cuddled and kissed," a fellow diner tells the mag. "They were full-on making out in a booth."

Sheridan recently broke off her engagement with singer Michael Bolton, while the 44-year-old Spade recently fathered a baby with Playboy Playmate Jillian Grace.

The two stars, who were reportedly spotted enjoying a long chat together at the restaurant's opening several weeks ago, are not dating, at least not yet says the source. Still, the insider tells People that the "Tommy Boy" star definitely made the birthday night special.

"David winked at her and stood by her side while she blew out the candles on her cake," said the source.
