HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Former "American Idol" star Paris Bennett is engaged and pregnant.
"Yes, I'm engaged and with child; a girl and her name will be Egypt," the 19-year-old singer wrote on her MySpace blog. "She will be here in October just before the holiday album."

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Ruben Studdard is about to belt out his biggest tune.
The "American Idol" favorite and his fiancé, Surata Zuri McCants, are planning a Southern wedding this weekend. The couple will tie the knot at Canterbury United Methodist Church in Birmingham, Ala., according to People magazine.
Studdard, 29, and McCants, 30, took out a marriage license on Monday, court records revealed.

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — "American Idol" runner-up David Archuleta has signed a record deal with 19 Recordings/Jive Records, Billboard.com reports.
The 17-year-old teen sensation joins the man who outlasted him on season seven, David Cook, in signing with the label.

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Former bartender David Cook walked away with the "American Idol" crown Wednesday night, easily defeating runner-up teen prodigy David Archuleta.
The 25-year-old Cook won by a margin of 12 million votes out of a record 97.5 million cast by viewers.
"I'm absolutely at a loss for words right now," the Blue Springs, Mo. native told the crowd after being revealed as the winner. "This is amazing. Thank you."

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Paula Abdul says a sudden change in direction led to her goof on last night's "American Idol" broadcast.
During Tuesday's show, Abdul and fellow judges Randy Jackson and Simon Cowell were asked to critique contestants after everyone had performed. Normally, the "Idol" performers receive their feedback instantly from the judges.

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — "American Idol" contestant David Cook was rushed to the hospital after experiencing heart palpitations and high blood pressure following Tuesday night's show, TMZ reports.
The 25-year-old rocker suffers from high blood pressure and was feeling ill all day, but still managed to perform Dolly Parton's "Little Sparrow" on last night's live show. He was treated for high blood pressure and released.

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Simon Cowell just might be a nice guy after all.
On Monday's "Oprah Winfrey Show," the 48-year-old Cowell announced that he was donating $162,000 to a family struggling to take care of their 3-year-old daughter, Madelaine Stoen, who has cancer. The money will be used to pay off the family's mortgage.
Cowell said when was approached by Oprah about helping out, it was an easy decision for him.

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — "American Idol" contestant David Hernandez is speaking out on claims that he previously worked as a male stripper.
"You know, honestly, I'm here to sing," Hernandez told EW.com at last night's "Idol" Top 12 party in West Hollywood.
Earlier this week, the manager of a male strip joint in Phoenix stepped forward to reveal that Hernandez performed nude at his club for three years.

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — The manager of a male strip joint in Phoenix has stepped forward to reveal that "American Idol" finalist David Hernandez performed nude at his club for three years.
"He had the look and the type that people like, so he made pretty good money here," Gordy Bryan, the manager of Dick's Cabaret, tells the Associated Press.

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — There were plenty of tears mixed with joy last night as "American Idol" narrowed the competition down to the final 24 contestants.
Among the female finalists surviving last night's cuts by Simon Cowell and his crew were 23-year-old Indiana native Amanda Overmyer and 24-year-old Brooke White, from Van Nuys, Calif., who reacted as one might expect — with loads of tears.
