Saturday Night Live pushed all the right buttons this weekend and whether or not it was because of host Cameron Diaz, “Black Annie,” or Immigration Reform…we LOL’d a lot more than the show has gotten us used to.
Just to prove that the show was in rare form…even the cold open had us in stitches with their rendition of Schoolhouse Rock.
BEST SKETCHES OF THE NIGHT:
Weirdly enough, Cameron’s monologue fell flat and felt more forced than anything..basically catering to everyone’s idea of her as a sex symbol. So, we’ll skip that and get right to “Black Annie” and the other sketches deemed best of the night.
WORST SKETCH OF THE NIGHT:
We’re not sure who thought an adult baby would be funny, but, spoiler alert, it isn’t.
WEEKEND UPDATE:
It wouldn’t be a news segment without mention of embattled comedian Bill Cosby. Michael Che did his thing and got laughs over the biggest elephant in the room since Michael Richards went crazy at The Laugh Factory.
Also…Kate McKinnon deserves mention for her oh so funny return as, very sexually frustrated, German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
MUSICAL GUEST:
Bruno Mars is one of the few artists who actually knows how to command the SNL stage like a champ. And thanks to the addition of Mark Ronson, both performances gave the show exactly the umph it needed.
DIGITAL SHORT:
Who knew urban gardening could be so funny? Between the adorable amount of chicks and Vanessa Bayer‘s lack of knowledge for the infomercial she’s hosting…this one’s a good one.
