Kelly Osbourne is paying tribute to her late Fashion Police co-host.
On Thursday night, the 29-year-old headed to Hollywood’s Shamrock Social Club to get inked in honor of Joan Rivers. Sharing a photo of a bee design done by Mark Mahoney on her right shoulder, Osbourne explained the significance of the tat on her Instagram, writing:
“If you looked at aerodynamics, at science, the bumble bee should not be able to fly. Physically, it was just not anatomically equipped to soar. Yet it did, defying gravity, defying logic. The bee was a creature that defied and beat the odds, a miracle.” Thank you for being my Miracle @joanrivers.
Osbourne and Rivers had been co-hosting the E! fashion show since 2010. Rivers passed away on Sept. 4, 2014 due to hypoxic arrest — a lack of oxygen to her brain — during a what was supposed to be a minor outpatient procedure to examine her vocal cords and voice box. She was 81.
Osbourne and Rivers’ other co-host, Giuliana Rancic, previously spoke about continuing series without the comedienne, saying that Melissa Rivers, Joan’s daughter and one of the show’s executive producers, will have the final word.
“They are looking at different scenarios, whether it moves forward or it doesn’t,” she said at the time. “Melissa … a lot of that will be up to her and how she’s feeling and how she decides what she wants to do, along with the execs here at E! There is no word now … they are seeing what Fashion Police looks like without Joan.”
So far, no replacement has been announced.
