Thirteen years we’ve been at this and here it is: the first trailer for the final The Hobbit film, itself a prequel to the Lord of the Rings trilogy. The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies will likely be our last dive into Peter Jackson‘s Middle Earth, unless he decides to adapt The Silmarillion, which would make for a very dry film experience.
Recognize the song? Well that’s because you’ve heard it before, in The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King.
It’s no surprise why Warner Bros. is eager to link this third film to the final film in the Lord of the Rings trilogy which won 11 Oscars, including Best Picture, and grossed more than $300 million. We will see whether or not The Battle of the Five Armies is as successful when it’s released this December.
