Singer Janet Jackson Hospitalized

MONTREAL, Canada — Singer Janet Jackson was hospitalized in Montreal on Monday night, according to The Associated Press.

The 42-year-old singer "got suddenly ill" as she went through her sound check prior to last night's scheduled show. She was rushed to local hospital, according to a statement released to AP by W&W Public Relations.

The pop star is reportedly being monitored at an undisclosed medical facility. She is hoping to reschedule the show, according to W&W.

Jackson also cancelled a performance over the weekend in Detroit, Mich. The singer's reps told the Detroit Free Press that the show was cancelled due to "production constraints."

Jackson kicked off her first national tour in seven years, "Rock With U," on Sept. 10.
