HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Teenage girls have a new idol, even if he isn't a household name yet.

Xavier Samuel, a relatively unknown actor from Australia, has landed the first new role in "Eclipse," the upcoming third film in the popular "Twilight" franchise, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

In his first role in the U.S., the 24-year-old Samuel will play Riley, a good-looking vampire who joins the villain Victoria in a plot to kill Bella, played by Kristen Stewart.

Shooting on "Eclipse" is scheduled to begin next month in Vancouver.

The film is due to arrive in theaters on June 30, 2010.
