The American Idol runner-up closed the show by simulating oral sex from a male backup dancer to go along with a make-out session with his male keyboardist, among other sex-charged antics. When asked about the racy performance, which had to be edited for the West Coast feed, Lambert refused to apologize for pushing the envelope.

"You know honestly, if I offended some people... it's apples and oranges," he told Access Hollywood. "I'm not an artist that does things for every single person. I believe in artistic freedom and expression, I believe in honoring the lyrics of a song, and those lyrics aren't really for everybody either."

Even before he took the stage, Lambert told Access that he was worried about being the victim of a double standard if his performance got chopped.

"If it's edited, that's discrimination," he said. "I will be a little disappointed because there is a little bit of discrimination going in this country. There's a big double standard, female pop artists have been doing things provocative like that for years, and the fact that I'm a male, and I'll be edited and discriminated against could be a problem."

"I'm not going to be surprised that they edit it," the 27-year-old singer continued. "People are scared and it's really sad, I just wish people could open their minds up and enjoy things, it's all for a laugh, it's really not that big of a deal."

He is fantastic. I don't

He is fantastic. I don't think he's pushed sexuality anymore than Cher, David Bowie, Kiss, Madonna - c'm here. He's performing. Look at Marilyn Manson. Some like , some don't. I don't think he is he t ype of person to be offensive. I think he is so creative and informed and talented that he is ahead of time. Look at the King. E;vis????? Everyone thought he was insane when he first appeared on televiwion. adam, is a dramatic and creator. Get over it, everyone.....

Michelle, I agree! My first

Michelle, I agree! My first thought, when I saw that performance, was that it make the gay community look bad... it makes people think, and it perpetuates the horrible stereotype, that the gay community is promiscuous. It's sad, because Mr. Lambert is a very talented man, musically and vocally. It's also sad that he possibly ruined his career, because he didn't think about the implications of such a suggestive/racy performance on a live TV show, that young kids would be staying up late to watch.

If he wanted to make a

If he wanted to make a statement, that would be fine. I am sad for the gay community, because he is a bad representation of what gay means. He is not sorry and has the nerve to say that if his performance is cut, it's discrimination. . I guess he forgot that kids would be staying up late to watch, or he just didn't care. I think he didn't consider what this would do to his career.I hope it ruins him, because he doesn't deserve to have any fame. That was the first time I saw him perform, and I hope it is the last.
