Comic-Con is a veritable treasure trove of celeb sightings, crazy costumes and, of course, highly anticipated film trailers.
The new Mad Max: Fury Road teaser featuring Tom Hardy in the titular role and a buzz cut-sporting Charlize Theron debuted at the convention over the weekend, and it looks pretty damn intense.
George Miller‘s post-apocalyptic action film, Fury Road, is the fourth movie in Miller’s Mad Max franchise and the first in nearly 30 years. The first three films starred Mel Gibson as Mad Max Rockatansky, and Hardy certainly has the rugged good looks, muscular physique and screen presence to to fill Mel’s shoes.
Miller who wrote and directed all three of the earlier movies has said of Fury Road, “Of course it’s based on the same character … the lone warrior in the wasteland disengaged from the rest of the world. But naturally Tom brings his Tom Hardy-ness to it, and the story is different to some degree. The character is different to some degree.” He also described the film to EW as a “western on wheels.”
