Everyone has to get their start somewhere, and Oscar nominee Emma Stone got hers on reality television.
In honor of #ThrowbackThursday, we’re taking a look at a 16-year-old Stone competing on the 2004 VH1 reality show In Search of the Partridge Family.
The video clip shows the actress passionately belting out “Bitch” by Meredith Brooks, evoking a load roar of cheering and laughter from the audience. The performance eventually led her to a big win, landing a role in the remade 70s show. Though it never made it past the pilot episode, it was definitely a launching pad for Stone’s career, helping her get some TV roles which eventually led to her big screen debut in Superbad.
Other than her name — back then she was known as Emily — the video proves that Stone has stayed pretty true to herself over the years despite her massive fame, maintaining that down-to-earth personality and humor we all know and love.
Watch her throwback performance in the video above.
