If you’ve been following Taylor Swift’s love for New York City in the past year or so, you shouldn’t be surprised to learn that track no. 1 on 1989 is a song called “Welcome to New York.”
On Monday, the 24-year-old singer debuted a snippet from the track on Good Morning America.
“I dreamt about moving to New York, I obsessed over moving to New York and then I did it,” Swift says in an interview posted on her official YouTube page. “The inspiration that I found in that city is kind of hard to describe and hard to compare to any other force of inspiration hat I’ve ever experienced in my life. It’s like an electric city.”
The single, written by Swift and Ryan Tedder (of One Republic), will be available for download on iTunes at 11:59 p.m. EST on Monday night.
