Solange Knowles Supports Azealia Banks Amid Rapper’s Feud With Iggy Azalea

By Celebrity News Wire on December 19, 2014

The saga between Iggy Azalea and Azealia Banks continues.

After both rappers went at it on Twitter in a racially fueled dispute, Solange Knowles got into the mix of things and threw her own hat into the ring. On Friday, Beyonce’s little sister subtly picked her side in the music feud, throwing her support for Banks in a series of tweets. She wrote:

In a separate tweet, Knowles also thanked Kendrick Lamar and J.Cole, two artists who were previously involved in controversies surrounding the appropriation of black culture.

Last year, the music world was up in arms when Lamar, whose record Good Kid, m.A.A.d. City was widely-received, walked away empty-handed at the Grammy Awards after losing Best Rap Album to Macklemore and Ryan Lewis . While many accused voters for being racially biased by awarding a white duo with the title, Lamar shrugged off the snub and told the press that “everything happens for a reason; the universe comes back around, that’s how it go.”

Most recently, J.Cole called out Justin Timberlake and Eminem for “snatching” hip-hop and rap music in his new song, “Fire Squad.” On the track, J.Cole rapped, ”While silly n*ggas argue over who gone snatch the crown / Look around my n*gga, white people have snatched the sound / This year I’ll probably go to the awards diapered down / Watch Iggy win a Grammy as I try to crack a smile.”

Previously, Banks slammed Azalea for not supporting the African-American community amid the numerous protests happening around the United States surrounding the deaths of Michael Brown and Eric Garner. At the time, Banks tweeted, “its funny to see people Like Igloo Australia silent when these things happen… Black Culture is cool, but black issues sure aren’t huh?”

Since then, Azalea hit back accusing Banks of using real world issues “as an excuse to promote fan battles.”
