Selena Gomez has come a long way since her days on Wizards of Waverly Place… But some of her former co-stars wish she hadn’t grown up so fast.
Jeff Garlin–who played her uncle on the Disney show–is speaking out about SelGo, cringing at the fact that she’s become somewhat of a sex symbol in Hollywood.
“I love [Gomez], and she is, at least in terms of what I saw, a great kid! But then I see her sexualized,” he explains. “When I see her sexualized, I look at her, and I look at this Ariana Grande… Both beautiful girls, but they have baby fat! They look like kids!”
He continues, “I see those chubby cheeks–she’s a kid! This is disgusting that it’s happening [to her] so young!”
But in their earlier 20s, both Ariana and Selena are capable of making decisions on their own–whether or not it’s in their best interest–and Garlin understands why they’ve become sexualized (“I’m all for ladies in bikinis, by the way,” he explains). However, he still blames the internet for speeding up the process for young actresses.
