Katy Perry Throws Shade at Kim Kardashian (And Lady Gaga?), Talks Having a Baby in ‘Rolling Stone’

By Celebrity News Wire on July 30, 2014

While it was hard for me to get past the fact that Katy Perry is wearing french tip, acrylic nails on the cover of a 2014 Rolling Stone issue (people stopped wearing those in like 2001 I thought?), I’m glad I did because the article itself leads to some interesting revelations about the pop star… And some major shade.

Perry came under fire for alleged cultural insensitivity after having big-bootied mummies dance in her tour, but she says it was all symbolism of the type of “plastic” society we live in today–referring specifically to Kim Kardashian.

Cue the drama!

“As far as the mummy thing, I based it on plastic surgery,” she tells the publication.  “Look at someone like Kim Kardashian or Ice-T’s wife, Coco.  Those girls aren’t African-American.  But it’s actually a representation of our culture wanting to be plastic, and that’s why there’s bandages and it’s mummies.”

She concludes, “I though that would correlate really well together.  It came from an honest place.  If there was any inkling of anything bad, then it wouldn’t be there, because I’m very sensitive to people.”

Well, sensitive to everyone but Kim K and Coco, I guess…

As for other competing pop sensations out there, it appears Katy doesn’t have all that much sensitivity toward them either… Bashing the performers who are too “thirsty” (as she puts it) for fans’ support.

“I’m not, like, a crazy ‘I’m gonna die for my fans type,” she admits.  “Some people are so dramatic about it, and you’re like, ‘Honestly, you’re not the Second Coming.  You’re just an entertainer!’”

One of the most likely musicians Perry could be referring to is Lady Gaga, who constantly proclaims that her fans come before absolutely anything else.

“I’m very grateful for fans’ support, but I’m not like thirsty or desperate.”

Ouch!

On a more sensitive subject, Katy admits she would love to have a child some day… Just not any time soon.

“I want to be doing that in the right time,” she reveals.  “And that’s not in the next two years, you know?  Maybe it’s a five-year plan, but I need to really be able to focus 100 percent of my attention on it.”

But what if she hasn’t found the right man by the time she’s ready for a kid?

“I don’t need a dude.  I mean, Neil [Patrick Harris] and David [Burtka], their twins are beautiful! It’s 2014! We are living in the future; we don’t need anything.  I don’t think I’ll have to, but we’ll see.”

Of course she clarifies, “I’m not anti-men.  I love men.  But there is an option if someone doesn’t present himself.”
