Kate Middleton and Prince William Break Tradition and Spend Christmas with the Middletons

Kate Middleton and Prince William attended Christmas church service at St. Mark’s Church in rural England over 150 miles away from the rest of the royal family.

While the Prince’s family is celebrating Christmas at Sandringham, England, the couple made a break from tradition and are spending the holidays with the rest of the Middleton’s family.

The Duchess and Duke of Cambridge, who just announced that they are expecting their first child, are staying at the Middleton’s family home in Bucklebury, Berkshire, a rural town a few hours outside of London.

Middleton’s sister Pippa joined the newly-expecting couple for the church services and told The Spectator that their family Christmas is “blissfully calm.”

“We’re good at keeping each other’s spirits up,” she added.

There’s one holiday tradition at the Middleton’s residence that Prince William is surely not going to forget: the costumes.

“My father has developed this funny tradition of surprising us at some point [in the night] by appearing in fancy dress,” Pippa explained.

“He buys a new costume each year and typically gets a bit carried away – a couple of years ago, he appeared in an inflatable sumo outfit.”
