Oh no, Directioners! Rumor has it Zayn Malik has been off recording his own music sans his co-boybanders… Does this mean he’s leaving One Direction?
Worry not! Yes, Malik has been working on some solo stuff, but only to help a fellow musician — completely as a side gig and nothing more.
English DJ Naughty Boy (whose real name is Shahid Khan) told U.K. paper The Sun (via Digital Spy) that the 1D singer and him are planning to drop a collaboration.”I can’t deny the fact that we have made music together,” Naughty Boy admitted. “Zayn is going to feature on my next album.”
He continued, “We’re making music and having fun. This is just like a side gig and I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it.
Though it’s all in fun, the DJ does admit that the 1D fans will get a better taste of Malik‘s vocal talents without the rest of the band involved.
“It’s a good time for Zayn to showcase what he can really do. I don’t think that is being fully exploited with the band because there are five people, and it needs to be balanced out,” he dished.
Naughty Boy has also collaborated with several other big names including Ed Sheeran and Sam Smith.
