Amy Winehouse was born in the Southgate area of Enfield, London. She landed a recording contract with Island Records during her teen years and released her debut album, "Frank," in 2003, earning the pop-soul singer plenty of praise and awards in the U.K.

Winehouse would soon rise to fame with her second release, the 2006 album “Back to Black,” which propelled her to stardom in both the U.K. and the United States. The album led to Winehouse winning five Grammy Awards in 2008, including honors for best new artist and best pop vocal album. In addition, the single "Rehab" won for record of the year, song of the year, and best pop vocal performance.
