Shia LaBeouf Won't Be Charged in DUI Crash

Shia LaBeoufHOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Shia LaBeouf will not face DUI charges for his West Hollywood car crash on July 27, but could have his license suspended, the L.A. County District Attorney's Office announced Thursday.

Los Angeles County District Attorney spokeswoman Jane Robison told the Associated Press that there was "insufficient evidence" to charge LaBeouf, who underwent surgery after severely injuring his hand in the accident.

Shortly after leaving West Hollywood's Troubadour Club, the 22-year-old actor's truck struck another vehicle around 2:24 a.m. and rolled over following the impact. Sheriff's deputies eventually concluded that LaBeouf was not at fault in the crash as the other driver ran a red light.

"Shia is most happy that he will not have to go to court," his attorney, Michael Norris, told AP.

The "Transformers" star will appear at a traffic hearing today at the Department of Motor Vehicles, where he faces the possibility of his license being suspended for refusing a breathalyzer test, Los Angeles Sheriff's Department spokesman Steve Whitmore tells AP. His license could be suspended for up to nine months.

Earlier this month, LaBeouf, whose new film "Eagle Eye" opens today, told Entertainment Tonight that the accident was "eye opening and terrifying."

"It was one of the biggest things that's happened to me, for sure, in my life," he said. "I'm grateful to be here."
