NEW YORK — Madonna's rep is the latest to deny the divorce rumors surrounding the pop star and her husband Guy Ritchie.
"Madonna's husband Guy arrived in New York last night to be with his wife and family," the singer's rep, Liz Rosenberg, said in a statement, according to Access Hollywood. "There are no plans for Madonna and Guy to divorce."
Last Friday, Ritchie's mom, Lady Amber Leighton, also denied that the couple's marriage is in trouble.
"I spoke to Guy this morning," Leighton told The Daily Mail. "There's no conversation about divorce because there is no divorce. They are not getting divorced; the speculation is TT — that's total tosh."
Last week, The Times of London reported that Madonna had engaged in discussions with high-powered British attorney Fiona Shackleton, who recently represented Beatles legend Paul McCartney in his well-publicized divorce battle with Heather Mills.
Earlier today, Us Weekly reported that New York Yankees star Alex Rodriguez has made several visits to Madonna's Central Park West apartment, including one encounter shortly after his wife gave birth to their second daughter. The 32-year-old slugger would reportedly leave "as late as midnight," according to the magazine's source.
When contacted by Access, Rosenberg denied Us Weekly's claims.
"Madonna and Alex have the same manager, Guy Oseary," Rosenberg said. "They have met. They know each other and Madonna took her kids to a Yankees game last week. There's really not anything to comment on beyond that."
Oseary, by the way, hung up the phone on Us Weekly when they attempted to reach him for comment.
Madonna and Ritchie were married on Dec. 22, 2000 in Scotland. They have two children together, 7-year-old Rocco Ritchie, and 21-month-old David Banda, 21 whom they adopted in Malawi in 2006.
"It's nothing new that people are airing tons of dirty laundry Madonna's way lately — much of it untrue," Rosenberg told Access, before jokingly adding, "By the way, rumors of Madonna and Lil' Wayne are quite exaggerated, as well."
