Lauren Conrad's L.A. Candy Book Series Headed for the Movies

Lauren Conrad, pictures, picture, photos, photo, pics, pic, images, image, hot, sexy, latest, newHOLLYWOOD, Calif. — After conquering reality TV and the New York Times Best Seller list, Lauren Conrad could be setting her sights on the big screen.

The 23-year-old former "Hills" star may be turning her top-selling book series L.A. Candy into a movie deal if the pieces fall into place.

"I'm working on [adapting the book for the movies] right now, but I don't want to commit to anything until I see all my options," Conrad told New York's Daily News. "We have had a lot of exciting news in that respect, though."

Last September, Conrad inked a three-book deal to scribe the L.A. Candy series for publisher HarperCollins. The series is based loosely on Conrad's own life, telling the story of a young girl named Jane Roberts who moves to L.A. and unexpectedly becomes the star of a reality television show.

The Orange County native says she hasn't even thought about potential casting, but perhaps that's because she's been busy defending her literary work after her "Hills" replacement, Kristin Cavallari, suggested L.A. Candy was penned by someone other than Conrad.

"I wrote my book, and I don't really feel the need to defend it," Conrad said of the allegation. "I've been writing forever. I have never written anything professionally before, so this was a big step for me. [Writing] was always my best subject in school, and it's something I've always loved to do."
