'Grey's' Patrick Dempsey Addresses Brooke Smith's Departure on 'Ellen'
HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Patrick Dempsey turned to a script Wednesday while appearing on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show."
The 42-year-old actor was at a loss for words when DeGeneres inquired about the sudden departure of his "Grey's Anatomy" co-star Brooke Smith, who revealed earlier this week that she was shown the door in mid-September.

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Brooke Smith has been dropped from "Grey's Anatomy," reports Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello.
Smith, who starred as Dr. Erica Hahn on the hit ABC show, said the network's decision was a total shocker.
"I was surprised and disappointed when they just suddenly told me that they couldn't write for my character anymore," said Smith, who tells EW that she received the shocking news in mid-September.
'Grey's Anatomy' Star Justin Chambers Treated at UCLA Psych Ward
HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — "Grey's Anatomy" star Justin Chambers checked into the UCLA Medical Center psych ward earlier this week, but the actor has since checked out.
The 37-year-old Chambers "was exhausted and suffers from a sleeping disorder," his rep tells TMZ.com. "He went in voluntarily to get some help."

NEW YORK - Actress Ellen Pompeo promised that she wouldn't have a big wedding and the "Grey's Anatomy" star lived up to her word.
Pompeo, who plays Dr. Meredith Grey on ABC's hit show, tied the knot with record producer Chris Ivery last Friday in a ceremonial office at City Hall, with Mayor Michael Bloomberg as a witness.
