HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Jessica Simpson appears to have found a new relationship that she hopes will be a "smashing" success.
The unlikely-in-love star has reportedly jumped back into the dating scene with a new boyfriend in Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan.
"She has fallen hard and is smitten," a source tells E! News of Simpson, adding that the pair considers themselves as "officially dating."
Simpson, 29, and Corgan, 42, were photographed together last Friday in New York City, but neither has publicly admitted to the relationship as of yet.
Corgan would mark Simpson's first boyfriend since she split in July with Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo. However, her friends apparently aren't jumping for joy over her latest choice.
"He's just another in an endless string of Jessica's boyfriends," another source told the celebrity news site. "They think he's too old for her. No one takes any of her boyfriends seriously anymore because she has had so many. They're sick of all of them being 'the one.' "
