NEW YORK — Pop star Madonna was injured over the weekend when she was tossed from her horse while riding in New York's Hamptons.

According to the 50-year-old singer's rep, the incident took place when the paparazzi came too close while Madonna was out for a ride.

"The accident occurred when the horse Madonna was riding was startled by paparazzi who jumped out of the bushes to photograph the singer, who was visiting friends," said Liz Rosenberg in a statement to The Associated Press.

Madonna went to a nearby hospital where she was treated for minor injuries and later released.
