Kristen Stewart Gushes Over Boyfriend Michael Angarano, Laughs Off Robert Pattinson Dating Rumors

By Chloe Bunker on February 24, 2009

Kristen Stewart and Michael AngaranoHOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Kristen Stewart is biting back at rumors that she's dating her "Twilight" co-star, Robert Pattinson.

"It's just totally false," the 18-year-old actress reveals in the March issue of Nylon. "Rob and I are good friends.  We went through a lot together, so we feel very close.  But if we go out in public, every little detail is scrutinized, like the way I stand next to him."

Stewart says it's understandable that the two stars would become close, having both experienced the hysteria surrounding their hit movie last year.

"It's like, I know this guy really f---ing well," she tells the mag. "It's only natural that we're sort of leaning on each other, because we’re put in the most f---ing psychotic situations."

The man in Stewart's life is actually Michael Angarano, whom she first met in 2004 when the pair co-starred together in the Lifetime movie "Speak." The couple started dating two years later and Stewart says having him as a boyfriend wasn't always so easy.

"He's older than me—he's 20 now—but when you're 13 and he's turning 16, it was always sort of an out-of-reach thing. Then you get a little older, and you realize, 'Oh, What the fuck am I thinking?  I can have you, like, lickity...' " she says as she snaps her fingers, laughing. "He's awesome."

When asked about being cast as Bella Swan in the Stephenie Meyer vampire series and the madness that soon followed, Stewart says nothing could prepare her for what transpired.

"Anywhere we'd go for 'Twilight' was a psychotic situation," she explains. "The sound was deafening, and it's thoughtless, as well... You get a slew of all these bulls--t questions like, 'What's it like to kiss a vampire?' and 'How much do you love Robert?' Then you'll get one that's actually real, but you're like, 'No, I can't right now, I can't even consider [it]."

Stewart admits she's still wrapping her arms around the whole media thing, including one awkward appearance on the "Late Show with David Letterman."

“I feel like I have nothing to say on those shows," she says. "I'm not good at the funny thing—most people are really great on those shows.  I don't have a contrived personality that [I can] just pump out [for] a five-minute segment, so I end up sitting there and looking kind of baffled.  Embarassing."
