HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Vanessa Minnillo has found the perfect place to connect with her boyfriend of four years, Nick Lachey.
"We shower, honestly, at least twice a day," the 29-year-old True Beauty host tells Parade magazine. "We shower in the morning and we shower at some point during the day or before bed. It's so funny because we've turned it into an intimate time for each other. We both have our own shower heads so we just talk while we're soaping up and doing our hair."
"It's not a sexual thing and it's not a romantic thing, it just becomes an intimate thing," she continues. "You're in your full form, so to speak, and you're vulnerable and we just both let our guard down. I've had some of my most intimate conversations with him in the shower."
The twosome also keeps their relationship healthy by having an open-door policy.
"You have to talk through everything. It's all about communication," explains Minnillo. "We talk daily about things that upset us. It's about having a sounding board because if you hold in all your thoughts, dreams, anger and anxiety than you're only hurting yourself."
"I think that we've been fortunate to have that," she continues. "I can be like, 'This upset me and I don't understand why somebody would say that about me,' and he gives me great perspective and I can turn around and say the same thing to him. You can't go through your day and not talk to your partner. Ultimately, the person you're going to spend the rest of your life with is going to be your best friend, so why wouldn't they know everything about your life?"
