Casey Wilson on Being Surprised By the Sex of Second Baby: 'I Was Quite Off'

By Celebrity News Wire on June 28, 2017

Casey Wilson really thought her second child was going to be a girl.

“Everybody did!” the actress, 36, tells PEOPLE exclusively. “It’s amazing the confidence that friends and strangers will have when they come up to you and are like, ‘That’s a girl.’ And I believed them!”

But against her “mother’s intuition” on the subject, Wilson, producer husband David Caspe, 38, and their 2-year-old son Max Red are in fact expecting a baby boy in September. “I was quite off, but I’m very excited,” she says.

Because she had been planning for a daughter, the Happy Endings alum had to get creative with transforming her office (and its existing toile wallpaper) into a nursery that now boasts a light, bright aesthetic thanks to furnishings and decor from HomeGoods.

“We tried to balance it out since it’s a baby’s room and not an 80-year-old woman’s room,” says Wilson, who is doing nationwide live shows of her podcast, Bitch Sesh, starting July 13.

She now jokes that her choice of an all-white color scheme might have been “a mistake,” but she’s okay with taking the design risk to ensure a warm and welcoming environment.

“When my first son was born, I was so terrified of leaving his room. I felt like I was in there a million hours a day,” she says. “So I wanted this to be really soft and cozy to me, since it appears it will be my jail for the first three months.”

And while she took the reigns on most of the décor decisions, she’s not the only member of the family to have taken an invested interest in the space.

“ has been trying to simply walk in and take things,” she says. “Every time I see him, he’s just dragging things from the baby’s room into his room.”

But regardless of any nursery envy, the soon-to-be big brother is sweetly excited to meet his little bro — and has been hard at work practicing his greeting.

“He comes up to my belly and says, ‘High-five baby!’ and puts his hand up, which is really cute,” Wilson says. “He came up with it all on his own.”
