HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — If you can't lace 'em up, it's time to go. At least, that's what Jewel thinks.
The 34-year-old singer sounded off Wednesday after "Dancing With the Stars" contestant Melissa Rycroft bowed out from performing this week due to a rib injury.
"Being a rodeo and bull riding fan it's hard for me to get used to someone who is injured still getting a score," wrote Jewel on her husband Ty Murray's blog. "I think the rule about 'judging a rehearsal if the person is too injured to perform' was weird both times they have used it."
The "Dancing" rule states that a contestant too injured to compete on the live show will be judged on their rehearsal footage. It has been put into effect twice this season, first with Steve-O and again Monday with Rycroft. Jewel certainly understands the pains that go along with the show, having dropped out of season eight before it even began with her own injury. But that doesn't mean she has to agree with the rules, particularly when her rodeo champ hubby is fighting for the 
title.
"As bad as I felt for Melissa, who I hope feels better and comes back, I'm used to our cowboy athletes that live by the rule: 'ride hurt or don't get a score.' It may seem harsh, but it seems like the only way to keep things honest," wrote Jewel, who added, "If you're too hurt to compete then you can't compete."
Of course, Jewel also said she might be singing a different tune if she were in the midst of the competition.
"If I were to be on the show I might change my mind. Hahah!"
