PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti – Hip-hop singer Wyclef Jean says he was grazed by a bullet in the hand when he stepped out of his car in Haiti to make a phone call.
The Haitian-American performer tells The Associated Press he had just left the car Saturday night when he heard gunfire. Jean says the next thing he noticed, there was blood on his shirt and sneakers.
He told the AP in a telephone interview Sunday that he has no idea who fired or whether the rounds were targeting him.

NEW YORK — Wyclef Jean is continuing to blast Sean Penn after the actor questioned his bid to run for president of Haiti.
During a concert Friday night in New York City, Jean accused Penn of doing cocaine.
"I got a message for Sean Penn," he sang. "Maybe he ain't see me in Haiti because he was too busy sniffing cocaine."

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti — Wyclef Jean's political plans seem to have ended almost as quickly as they began.
The 37-year-old singer will not be allowed to run for president of Haiti, an electoral official told Reuters late Thursday, explaining Jean failed to satisfy legal requirements to run in the country's Nov. 28 presidential election.
"He is not on the list as I speak," said the official.

NEW YORK — Wyclef Jean has been slapped with a lawsuit that alleges he bailed on paying his jewelry bill, the Associated Press reports.
In court papers filed Tuesday in Manhattan, Jacob and Company Incorporated claims the 35-year-old hip-hop artist bought several watches and articles of jewelry between March 2002 and January 2006. The purchases reportedly amounted to $765,100.
