NEW YORK — So much for taking the high road.

Anne Heche let the world in on what she really thinks of her ex-husband, Coley Laffoon, during her appearance Wednesday night on the "Late Show with David Letterman." When the host asked how her ex was doing, the 40-year-old actress didn't hold back.

"Can you say 'lazy ass' on TV?" said Heche of her husband of five years, who filed for divorce in 2007.

"No, no, no. That's terrible," she then offered.

But Heche didn't stop there. When Letterman asked what Laffoon does for a living, the actress said: "He goes out to the mailbox and he opens up the little mailbox door and goes, 'Oh! I got a check from Anne! Oh! I got a check from Anne! Yay!' "

The former couple reached a divorce settlement last June, in which Heche agreed to pay Laffoon a $275,000 lump sum and $3,700 per month in child support for their 7-year-old son, Homer.
