NEW YORK — Alexa Ray Joel's commercial for Prell Shampoo has finally debuted, nearly 25 years after her supermodel mother, Christie Brinkley, appeared in her own ad campaign for the brand.

Joel, 24, shows that she's inherited her mother's hair-tossing abilities in the 30-second spot, which also showcases her blossoming music career.

"I am so excited and honored to be named the new face of Prell — especially following in the footsteps of my mother, who was a Prell girl," Joel said after landing her commercial gig in February.

Brinkley famously appeared in a 1986 ad for Prell when she was married to the singer's father, Billy Joel. In the ad, Brinkley waved a huge mane of her hair, saying Prell is "my body building system for hair."

The iconic shampoo was first introduced by Procter & Gamble in 1947.
