Kelis Files for Divorce From Nas

By Chloe Bunker on May 1, 2009

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Music star Kelis has filed for divorced from rapper Nas, despite being seven months pregnant with the couple's son.

"I can confirm that she has filed for divorce," a rep for the "Milkshake" singer told Vibe. "We request the media to respect her privacy during this very difficult time."

An attorney for Kelis filed the divorce papers Thursday afternoon, citing irreconcilable differences, according to the publication.

Kelis, 29, and Nas, 35, met in 2002 at an MTV Video Music Awards after-party thrown by Sean "Diddy" Combs. They tied the knot three years later in Atlanta.

While this is the couple's first child together, Nas has a 15-year-old daughter named Destiny from a previous relationship. After learning he had a second child on the way, the "Hip Hop Is Dead" singer expressed his enthusiasm to MTV.

"Yeah, man, I find out what it's gonna be next week, so I'm happy," he said.

Jaime Pressly Opens Up About Her Split and Finding Love Again

By Chloe Bunker on March 24, 2009

LOS ANGELES — Jaime Pressly is opening up about her November split with fiancé, Eric Cubiche, saying the longtime friends grew apart while she was pregnant with the couple's first child.

"When I was pregnant, Eric's job changed," the 31-year-old actress tells Redbook. "He became a traveling DJ. So he was gone a lot. That's how part of the...separation started. We'd been best friends for so long, and now it was kind of like we were leading two separate lives."

"It's hard because when you're with somebody for a long time or have a child with someone, you start to expect them to be this person you had in mind," she adds. "Then if they don't fill the expectation, resentment starts to come up. It doesn't mean that one person's bad and one person is good. Sometimes it just doesn't work."

Pressly and Cubiche have been friends for more than 10 years and remain close, which has certainly made raising their 23-month-old son Dezi James a lot easier.

"We both still love each other, and the most important thing is our son," explains the "My Name is Earl" star. "We want to make sure he's happy and taken care of."

"I have full custody, but when he's in town, Eric comes and sees Dezi every day," she adds. "Dezi's too young right now to go overnight. But Eric's very much a part of his life; he's a great father. We make sure that no matter what happens, Dezi is okay and protected and knows that Mom and Daddy love him. We've never argued in front of him. We don't raise our voices around him."

In addition to her mommy and television duties, Pressly has been busy of late promoting both her new film, "I Love You, Man," and her new memoir, It's Not Necessarily Not the Truth: Dreaming Bigger Than the Town You're From. Not surprisingly, she's yet to bounce back into the dating scene, but does hope to find love again someday.

"I want what I haven't had. I think we all do," she says. "Relationships teach you what you do and don't want, what you can and can't put up with, what you do and don't deserve."

"I'd like to be with somebody who isn't afraid to take care of me – whether they have the same financial means as me or not," continues Pressly. "What's important is that they realize there are other ways of taking care of me that have [nothing] to do with money. Like cooking me dinner or going to the grocery store or picking up after yourself."

Miley Cyrus Hoping 'Hanna Montana' Movie Won't Be the End

By Alexis Sezar on March 24, 2009

LOS ANGELES — With her hit "Hannah Montana" series arriving on the big screen in April, Miley Cyrus said she's hopeful of continuing her television run, contrary to what the tabloids would lead you to believe.

"This movie was never meant to be the end of 'Hannah Montana,' " the 16-year-old Cyrus tells Billboard magazine. "The thing is, a lot of people put where the show's future lays in my hands — and it's not up to me. It's up to Disney and whether they want more episodes, and we hope that they do."

While Disney has been mulling over the option to renew the show for a fourth season, Cyrus has been busy releasing music and an autobiography under her own name and not the fictional character that she portrays.

"It's just an honor for people to be able to relate to me and my music — and not so much the character anymore," she said. "I can't be Hannah Montana forever. I have to have something after this. I can't do this when I'm 30."

As for what fans can expect when "Hannah Montana: The Movie" arrives in theaters on April 10, Cyrus said get ready for the Hoedown Throwdown.

"We just all kind of made it up as we went along," she explains of the film's big dance number. "You have to be semi-coordinated to do it."

David Letterman Marries Longtime Girlfriend Regina Lasko

By Rich King on March 23, 2009

NEW YORK — David Letterman has finally uttered those two magic words — "I do."

The CBS host revealed to his "Late Show" audience Monday that he married his longtime girlfriend, Regina Lasko. The pair tied the knot last Thursday in a courthouse ceremony near the couple's Montana ranch — the first wedding for the 62-year-old Letterman.

"Regina and I began dating in February of 1986, and I said, 'Well, things are going pretty good, let's just see what happens in about 10 years,' " joked Letterman. "I secretly felt that men who were married admired me ... like I was the last of the real gunslingers, you know what I'm saying?"

Letterman said the trip to the Teton County Courthouse with the 48-year-old Lasko and the couple's 5-year-old son, Harry, was challenging for reasons besides the obvious. He said their pickup truck got stuck in the mud along the way, leaving them stranded on the road.

"So now we think, 'Well, somebody'll come.' No, nobody comes along. Nobody comes along — it's Thursday afternoon; who's coming along? Zorro? No, nobody. So I get out of the truck and I walk 2 miles back to the house into a 50-mile-an-hour wind," explained Letterman.

"It's not Beverly Hills, it's Montana, for God's sakes. And the whole way, I'm thinking, 'See, smart ass, see, see, you try to get married, this is what happens,' " he added.

Upon his return, Letterman said his son inquired if they were still heading to town. When he assured him that they were, Letterman joked that his only child became "very upset."

"Mom had told him if I wasn't back in an hour, the deal was off," cracked the host.

Natasha Richardson Laid to Rest Near NYC Home

By Chloe Bunker on March 22, 2009

LITHGOW, N.Y. — Actress Natasha Richardson was laid to rest Sunday near her home in Millbrook, N.Y.

Friends and family gathered at St. Peter's Episcopal Church to pay their final respects to the Tony Award winner, who died Wednesday from injuries suffered in a skiing accident.

Richardson's husband, actor Liam Neeson, was among the pallbearers at the afternoon burial. He arrived with the couple's sons Micheal, 13, and Daniel, 12, his mother-in-law Vanessa Redgrave, and his sister-in-law Joely Richardson.

Others attending the funeral service included Ralph Fiennes, Alan Rickman and Laura Linney, according to The Associated Press.

Richardson was buried at the same cemetary where her grandmother, Rachel Redgrave, was laid to rest.

On Friday, friends and family gathered for a private wake at the American Irish Historical Society in New York City. Among those who paid their respects were Diane Sawyer and Uma Thurman.

Lindsay Lohan Looking to Bounce Back Despite Tabloids

By Alexis Sezar on March 19, 2009

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Lindsay Lohan wishes she could do away with the tabloids, particularly since she feels like they've impacted her ability to find work.

"There's not much I can do about the fact that I've become a kind of tabloid obsession.  I can't change that.  And yes, the websites, the gossip pages, and all of that stuff have hurt my career — they're like the Burn Books of Hollywood," the 22-year-old actress reveals in the latest issue of Nylon.

Lohan has experienced her fair share of troubles in recent years, including two DUI arrests and a few stints in rehab, but the "Mean Girls" star insists she gets a bum rap.

"I really don't feel like I should have to prove myself to anyone because of living out my college years in the public eye," she tells the mag. "I'm glad everything happened the way it did."

While she'd love to rid the world of the paparazzi, Lohan isn't entirely against being around photographers.

"I love doing photo shoots… I mean, if I could just sign with IMG and do ad campaigns and model more, I'd do that," shares Lohan. "That's fun for me. That's not work."

As for getting her career back on track, Lohan says she's keeping busy on the phone. She tells the mag that she recently chatted with Oscar winner Sean Penn and the two have a great idea, but one little problem.

"We're trying to get Seth Rogen for this project, but Seth won't call us back," Lohan says. "So call us back, Seth, if you're reading this!"

Natasha Richardson Dies at Age 45

By Chloe Bunker on March 18, 2009

NEW YORK — Tony Award-winning actress Natasha Richardson was pronounced dead Wednesday at a New York hospital. She was 45.

Richardson, the wife of actor Liam Neeson and a member of the prominent Redgrave acting family, suffered a traumatic brain injury Monday while at the ski resort of Mont Tremblant, located about 75 miles from Montreal.

"Liam Neeson, his sons, and the entire family are shocked and devastated by the tragic death of their beloved Natasha. They are profoundly grateful for the support, love and prayers of everyone, and ask for privacy during this very difficult time," a family spokesperson said in a statement.

Richardson was taking a private ski lesson when she fell on a beginners trail. She initally appeared fine after the accident, but began feeling ill about an hour after her fall and was transported to a local hospital.

Neeson, 56, was in Toronto filming the movie "Chloe" at the time. He immediately rushed to be by his wife's side.

Richardson was flown Tuesday afternoon from Montreal to Manhattan's Lenox Hill Hospital, where friends and family members gathered for a vigil. She was removed from life support and pronounced dead this afternoon.

Richardson and Neeson married in 1994 and have two sons, Micheal, 13, and Daniel, 12. Their marriage was often referred to as magical and Richardson once told British newspaper The Independent that she and her husband were a perfect compliment to each other.

"We have a joke that I see the glass half full and he sees it half empty," she said. "He's more laid back, happy to see what happens, whereas I'm a doer and I plan ahead. The differences sometimes get in the way but they can be the very things that feed a marriage too."

Richardson is also survived by her mother, actress Vanessa Redgrave, as well as her sister, Joely Richardson, best known for her role on "Nip/Tuck."

Her father, director Tony Richardson, died in 1991.

Over the course of her distinguished 25-year career, Richardson drew praise for her performances on stage, in addition to her television and film work. She won a Tony Award in 1998 for her performance in the musical "Cabaret," and appeared in such films as "Patty Hearst," "The Parent Trap," "Maid in Manhattan" and "Asylum."

LeAnn Rimes Shrugs Off Eddie Cibrian Affair Rumors

By Chloe Bunker on March 18, 2009

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — With rumors circulating that LeAnn Rimes is having a steamy affair with actor Eddie Cibrian, the country star took to her blog Wednesday.

"This is a difficult time for me and my loved ones, but I appreciate all your continued support," wrote the 26-year-old Rimes on her official Web site. "As you all know, not everything in our lives is always black and white."

The latest issue of Us Weekly reveals that sparks began to fly between Rimes and the 35-year-old Cibrian during shooting of their upcoming Lifetime movie, "Northern Lights."

"From the moment we rehearsed, LeAnn and Eddie honestly developed a really strong bond and a warm relationship," director Mike Robe told the mag before word of the affair began to make the rounds.

The magazine's spread includes pictures of the pair enjoying a romantic evening together in Laguna Beach, Calif. on March 7. Us also claims Rimes and Cibrian met up a week later at the Malibu Beach Inn.

Rimes has been married to Dean Sheremet since 2002. The couple met a year earlier when Rimes hosted the Academy of Country Music Awards, in which Sheremet appeared as a dancer.

Cibrian is married to model Brandi Glanville. They married in 2001 and have two sons, Mason, 5, and Jake, 23 months.

Despite the reported affair, Rimes did not shy away from appearing on Wednesday's "Live with Regis and Kelly." When asked by Regis Philbin about the circulating rumors, Rimes shrugged it off.

"There's rumors all the time," she said.

Rimes would appear to still have the support of her 28-year-old husband, who offered this update to his Twitter followers Wednesday: "I love my wife!!!"

Judge Recalls Lindsay Lohan's Arrest Warrant

By Chloe Bunker on March 16, 2009

LOS ANGELES — A Los Angeles Superior Court judge has dismissed an arrest warrant issued Friday for actress Lindsay Lohan.

Judge Marsha N. Revel made the ruling Monday morning, determining that the "Mean Girls" star has been complying with the terms of her probation stemming from a 2007 DUI conviction.

Lohan's attorney, Shawn Chapman Holley, provided proof to the court that the star has been compliant with her alcohol education classes.

"As you saw in court, this was really much ado about nothing," Holley told reporters after the hearing, while explaining that there was a miscommunication when Lohan switched treatment programs.

The judge also noted that Lohan, who did not appear in court, has not failed any drug or alcohol tests.

Shortly after the $50,000 arrest warrant was issued late Friday, Holley told reporters it was nothing more than a "misunderstanding."

Lohan is currently serving a three-year probation term, having twice been arrested for DUI in 2007. She famously spent 84 minutes in jail in November 2007 after the arrests, the first of which came after she wrecked her car in Beverly Hills and the second following a car chase in Santa Monica.

Howard K. Stern, Doctors Arrested for Furnishing Drugs to Anna Nicole Smith

By Chloe Bunker on March 13, 2009

LOS ANGELES — Anna Nicole Smith's former attorney and boyfriend, Howard K. Stern, has been charged with giving her prescription drugs in the years leading up to her fatal overdose in 2007.

The 40-year-old Stern, along with doctors Sandeep Kapoor, 40, and Khristine Eroshevich, 61, were each charged Thursday with three felony counts of conspiracy and several other charges of fraudulent prescriptions, according to The Associated Press.

Both Stern and Kapoor were released Thursday night after they each posted $20,000 bail. Eroshevich is expected to surrender Monday, AP says.

Prosecutors said the doctors gave the drugs, including opiates, to Stern, who in turn passed them to the Playboy Playmate. The prescriptions were issued between June 2004 and January 2007.

"These individuals repeatedly and excessively furnished thousands of prescription pills to Anna Nicole Smith, often for no legitimate medical purpose," said California Attorney General Jerry Brown in a statement.

Eroshevich, a Los Angeles psychiatrist and friend of Smith's, is said to have authorized all 11 of the prescription medications discovered in the Florida hotel room where the unresponsive model was found prior to her death. Eroshevich's attorney, Adam Braun, acknowledged that his client wrote some of them prescriptions by using fictitious names for Smith.

"It was done for privacy reasons," Braun told AP. "She did the best she could under difficult circumstances in the best interest of the patient."

Smith was 39 when she died in February 2007. Her death came just months after her 20-year-old son Daniel also died from of a lethal combination of drugs.

Braun said Eroshevich began treating Smith shortly after her son's death.

According to documents obtained by AP, more than 600 pills were missing from prescriptions issued in the five weeks prior to Smith's death, with most of the drugs prescribed in Stern's name.

Stern once claimed to be the father of Smith's daughter, Dannielynn, who stands to inherit the oil fortune of her late second husband, J. Howard Marshall.

DNA tests later proved Smith's ex-boyfriend, Larry Birkhead, to be the father of Dannielynn.
