'New Moon' Hangs Onto Box Office Title

By Rich King on November 29, 2009

LOS ANGELES — Vampires continued to howl as The Twilight Saga: New Moon topped the box office for the second week in a row.

The Summit Entertainment sequel raked in $42.5 million over the holiday weekend, according to studio estimates released Sunday. While the total marked a steep decline from last weekend's record-breaking debut, it still managed to raise the movie's worldwide gross to a whopping $473.7 million.

Sandra Bullock's The Blind Side nearly toppled the vampire flick for the top spot. The football film rang up sales of $40.1 million to finish a close second.

The action film 2012, which stars John Cusack and Amanda Peet, finished third with $18 million in sales, while two new Disney films, Old Dogs ($16.8 million) and A Christmas Carol ($16 million), rounded out the weekend top five.

'New Moon' Movie Trailer Creates Buzz

By Rich King on August 17, 2009

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Twilighters are buzzing at the latest "New Moon" movie trailer which was officially released on Friday with the Vanessa Hudgens film "Bandslam."

The action-packed trailer is narrated by Taylor Lautner, whose brand new ripped body is fully on display in the latest sneak peek at the film, which opens in theaters on Nov. 20.

"Jacob has changed in a lot of different ways," Lautner says in the promo for the "Twilight" sequel. "He's bigger, he's 30 pounds bigger!"

Lautner also boasts that fans "are really going to be happy."

"'New Moon' is a lot more complicated than 'Twilight' was," says the 17-year-old heartthrob. "As time goes on, the heat starts building. 'New Moon' is going to be stepped up a whole other notch. There's more action in this one, especially with the werewolves involved."

"'New Moon is exciting," he continues. "It's always pushing to the next level."

Unfortunately, Hudgens wasn't able to reap the awards of the trailer after it was leaked online prior to her movie's opening, sending her film to a finish outside the weekend Top 10.

Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner Heat Up 'New Moon'

By Rich King on August 13, 2009

LOS ANGELES — Kristen Stewart is making a bold prediction for all those Twilighters eagerly anticipating the upcoming "Twilight" sequel "New Moon."

"[Making 'Twilight'] was much more of a fight," the 19-year-old actress, who stars as Bella in the hit franchise, tells Entertainment Weekly. "We needed to make something commercial but stay true to the book. We didn't have enough money. It was all very impulsive, and that's what I love about that movie…But I think 'New Moon' is gonna be even better."

In addition to making bold predictions, Stewart also played a part in making sure that Taylor Lautner returned in the role of her on-screen bestie Jacob.

"It's completely understandable why they wanted to make sure he was right," she explains of the casting debate. "He was so young, 16, so I got it. But I knew he had [to do] it. Just because of how I felt around him."

Lautner dove into his return vigorously as he trained hard and beefed up for his increased presence in "New Moon."

"My body fat got so low that we actually needed to increase it a little bit," says the 17-year-old heartthrob. "My trainer would be like, 'Go have a huge milk shake just so I can get a thousand calories into your body.' "

In the end, Stewart says, her on-screen chemistry with Lautner is more than magical in "New Moon," which arrives in theaters on Nov. 20.

"We have that relationship," she says. "It's lamely cute."
