NEW YORK — A former mental patient faces up to one year in jail after being convicted Tuesday of stalking actress Uma Thurman.
Jack Jordan, 37, was accused of hanging around Thurman's Manhattan home and showing up on the set of one of her movies. He was also accused of sending harassing e-mails to the star's dad and brother.
The New York jury found Jordan guilty of stalking and one count of aggravated harassment. He was cleared of two other counts of aggravated harassment.
Thurman, 38, testified for several hours last Thursday in the week-long trial, saying she was "completely freaked out" when she discovered that Jordan had also been in contact with her family.
At one point during her testimony in the Manhattan court room, the actress was visibly shaken as she clutched a card that she had received from Jordan, in which he wrote, "My hands should be on your body at all times."
It was shortly after receiving the card that she discovered he had also been in contact with her family.
"I felt a stone drop in my stomach," the actress said. "The idea that this had a history made it even more terrifying."
Jordan was ordered to undergo a psychiatric exam before his next court date on June 2.
