NEW YORK – Kara DioGuardi is about to make her Broadway stage debut as a merry murderess.
The songwriter and former "American Idol" judge is the latest celebrity to step into the role of Roxie Hart in the Tony Award-winning revival of "Chicago."
DioGuardi is now the head judge on Bravo's "Platinum Hit." She will be in the show for eight weeks beginning Sept. 5.

The network confirmed the news Friday, weeks after many reported that DioGuardi had been fired from the show.

The 39-year-old songwriter sat on the judges' panel for two seasons. No other details about her exit were revealed.

The "American Idol" judge married her longtime boyfriend, Mike McCuddy, in Prospect, Maine Sunday, her rep confirmed to Us Weekly.
Approximately 30 close friends and family members were on hand for the brief ceremony, held at the Prospect Harbor United Methodist Church.

DioGuardi's boyfriend, Mike McCuddy, popped the question on Dec. 8 while the pair was vacationing in Mexico, her rep says.
