HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — In what has been a year of celebrity baby firsts, Jessica Alba is joining the crowd.
The stunning young actress is pregnant with her first child.
The "Sin City" star and her boyfriend Cash Warren are expected to become parents next summer.
Alba's spokesman, Brad Cafarelli, confirmed the news to People magazine saying, "I confirm that Jessica and Cash are expecting a baby in late spring, early summer."
Alba, 26, has dated Warren, 28, since autumn 2004 after they met on the set of "The Fantastic Four." Warren was working as a director's assistant on the action flick.
Alba recently spoke about going on an eight-and-half month break from movies, but she denied it was for a maternity leave.
She said earlier this month: "I've worked the last two-and-a-half years without stopping. "This is the time to do it."
Before the pregnancy announcement, she had been in talks to make her Broadway debut this summer in a revival of the David Mamet play, "Speed-the-Plow." Alba was expected to take on the role of Karen — the part played by Madonna in the same play in 1998.
Alba and Warren have been photographed shopping for mattresses in Los Angeles in the last week, and were seen at a Lakers basketball game where they were spotted kissing.
The star recently admitted that a Hollywood career can make relationships difficult.
"I'm not the easiest person to hang with all the time," said Alba. "I'm away a lot and it's an unconventional life."
Alba joins a group of Hollywood stars who have become pregnant for the first time this year, including Jennifer Lopez, Christina Aguilera and Nicole Richie.
