LOS ANGELES — It's official: Simon Cowell is planning to tie the knot.

After weeks of rumors, American Idol makeup artist Mezhgan Hussainy has confirmed to RadarOnline that she's engaged to the media mogul.

The couple's wedding date remains a secret, but their nuptials are expected to happen rather soon.

Cowell, 50, and Hussainy, 36, have been surrounded by engagement rumors ever since the Afghanistan native wore a diamond ring when the pair dined on Valentine's Day at Mr. Chow's in London.

The lovebirds started dating shortly after the Idol judge and his longtime girlfriend, Terri Seymour, split last August. Earlier this month, Cowell gushed over his new love during a U.K. television appearance.

"She's the one...She's very special," he said, while also adding, "I think I need to have little Simons around."

Cowell's publicist, Max Clifford, has previously noted a big change in his client since the love affair began.

"They are very suited," he observed. "She is someone who is independent and says what she thinks and feels, and he likes that. He's probably the happiest I have ever known him in the nine years I've been working with him."
