Chemical Brothers Among Artists Added to Coachella Lineup

The Chemical BrothersINDIO, Calif. — The Chemical Brothers and The Orb are among the latest artists to join the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival lineup, organizers have announced.

Also added to the festival bill is Seattle band Murder City Devils, folk artist Devendra Banhart and French dance pioneer Etienne de Crécy.

Amy Winehouse Cancels Coachella Appearance

Amy WinehouseLONDON — British pop star Amy Winehouse has canceled her scheduled appearance at the upcoming Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, her rep confirmed Monday to The Associated Press.

Spokesman Chris Goodman told AP that Winehouse won't be performing at the festival in "light of current legal issues."

Paul McCartney, The Killers and The Cure Top 2009 Coachella Music Festival Lineup

INDIO, Calif. — Paul McCartney, The Killers and The Cure will be the top headliners at the 2009 Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, organizers announced Friday.

McCartney, who will be making his first-ever U.S. festival appearance, will headline the opening day of the event on Friday, April 17. 

"I have heard that Coachella is one of the greatest festivals in the world. I'm really excited to get out there and rock! said the former Beatle in a statement.

Morrissey, Franz Ferdinand and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Leonard Cohen will be among the artists joining McCartney on the opening day of the festival.

The Killers will top the lineup on Saturday, where they will be joined by such acts as Amy Winehouse, Thievery Corporation and TV on the Radio.

Robert Smith and The Cure will headline the festival's final day, which will also feature performances by such artists as My Bloody Valentine and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
