The actress gave birth to a baby girl named Sadie Grace last Thursday in Los Angeles, her rep tells People magazine.
The newborn is the first child for Applegate and her fiancé, musician Martyn LeNoble.
"Mother and daughter are doing great," her rep said.

The 38-year-old actress is engaged to marry musician Martyn Lenoble, her publicist confirmed Friday to the Associated Press.
The couple, who have been dating for two years, got engaged on Valentine's Day. They have yet to set a wedding date.
This will be the second marriage for both Applegate and the 41-year-old Lenoble, who is a founding member of the rock group Porno for Pyros.
Applegate, who rose to fame as Kelly Bundy on Fox's Married ... With Children, was diagnosed with breast cancer in March 2008. She is now free of cancer after undergoing a double mastectomy.

Appearing on Friday's Ellen DeGeneres Show, the longtime actress said she kept her illness a secret for some time on the set of her ABC sitcom "Samantha Who?"
