NEW YORK – In a recent episode of "30 Rock," Alec Baldwin's character, Jack Donaghy, went through a kind of midlife crises, splitting into four alternate versions of his self.
One, "sideways Jack," chastised Donaghy for allowing an intended six-month stop in TV to turn into five years, leaving him stalled and no longer a "shark."
"You don't even know what a shark is anymore!" exclaimed the alternate Donaghy.

NEW YORK – Yankee-Red Sox divisions run deep, even right through NBC's Thursday-night comedy schedule.
Alec Baldwin of "30 Rock" is a Long Island native and an ardent New York Yankees fan. John Krasinski of "The Office" hails from Newton, Mass., and is hopelessly devoted to his Boston Red Sox.

WASHINGTON – Actors Alec Baldwin and Kevin Spacey are expected to visit Capitol Hill to press Congress to preserve arts funding amid budget cuts.
However, a hearing at which the actors were to testify Tuesday has been canceled. A spokeswoman for the House Appropriations Committee says some hearings have been canceled to free up time for staffers, who are helping members of Congress with budget negotiations to avoid a government shutdown.

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Alec Baldwin exchanged unpleasantries with a member of the paparazzi Thursday night, hours after being released from the hospital.
Video footage of the incident shows the 30 Rock star going after New York Post photographer Tim Wiencis in a heated exchange outside the actor's New York City apartment building. Baldwin was quickly pulled away from the snapper by several policeman, who were positioned nearby.
Wiencis told police, "He just assaulted me." He did not file charges, however.
Baldwin, 51, was taken to Lenox Hill Hospital early Thursday after his 14-year-old daughter, Ireland, called 911, claiming that her dad was "unresponsive" in his West Side Manhattan apartment.

NEW YORK — Alec Baldwin is "completely fine" after being rushed to a New York City hospital early Thursday.
According to WNBC News, medics responded to the 51-year-old actor's West Side Manhattan apartment after receiving a 911 call. Sources told the local NBC affiliate that it was Baldwin's 14-year-old daughter Ireland (his only child with ex-wife Kim Basinger) who made the call, saying he was "unresponsive" after "possibly taking pills."
Baldwin agreed to go to nearby Lenox Hill Hospital, where he was treated and released after about an hour, WNBC said.

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Alec Baldwin is reiterating his plans to find another career in the not too distant future.
"I don't have any interest in acting anymore," the 51-year-old 30 Rock star tells Men's Journal for its December issue. "I'm not young, but I have time to do something else."
The Emmy Award-winning actor said he plans to quit acting when his contract for the NBC show expires in 2012. Earlier this year, he told Playboy magazine that he would walk away after 30 Rock's wrap party.

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Get ready for plenty of laughs at the 2010 Academy Awards.
Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin will co-host the 82nd annual event, organizers announced Tuesday.
"We think the team of Steve and Alec are the perfect pair of hosts for the Oscars," said the show's producers Adam Shankman and Bill Mechanic in a statement. "Steve will bring the experience of having hosted the show in the past and Alec will be a completely fresh personality for this event."

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — The stars are aligning for Adrian Grenier's upcoming documentary "Teenage Paparazzi."
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Alec Baldwin, Whoopi Goldberg, Eva Longoria and Rosie O'Donnell will be among the actors appearing in the film, in which Grenier will interview various stars and examine the relationship between celebrity and society.
Others expected to appear include reality TV star and socialite Paris Hilton, actor Martin Landau and comedian Lewis Black.

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Alec Baldwin says one of his future roles just might find him alongside the likes of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.
"There's other things I want to do (besides acting)," the "30 Rock" star says in an interview airing Sunday on CBS' "60 Minutes."
"There's no age limit on running for office, to a degree," adds Baldwin, who turned 50 on April 3. "(It is) something I might do one day."
