James Corden Hops as Peter Rabbit in First Full-Length Trailer for Live-Action Family Movie

By Celebrity News Wire on November 21, 2017

Over 100 years since he first appeared in children’s books, Peter Rabbit is hopping onto the big screen in his first live-action adventure.

The first full-length trailer, exclusive to PEOPLE, features an all-star cast of actors who bring to life the adorable and beloved characters created by author Beatrix Potter in the early 1900’s.

James Corden, Daisy Ridley, Margot Robbie and Elizabeth Debicki voice the four little rabbits: Peter, Cottontail, Flopsy and Mopsy, respectively. Singer Sia also lends her voice to the movie as the washerwoman hedgehog Mrs. Tiggly Winkle.

Peter Rabbit is a timeless story with a classic character who is easy to love,” Corden tells PEOPLE. “Peter is the classic underdog — he’s a rascal, he’s mischievous, and he is fearless. He thinks he has power and ability beyond what’s in him, as all children do.”

The modern reimagining features Domhnall Gleeson as Mr. McGregor, who punishes rabbits stealing from his garden by baking them into pies — at least in the children’s version.

In the trailer, Gleeson’s version of McGregor also has a strict no-rabbit policy, but when he falls in love with his neighbor Beatrix, a lover of all woodland animals, he pretends to be a friend of the bunnies.

But the always mischievous Peter is determined to keep Beatrix from marrying the gardner, so he begins setting up traps to expose McGregor’s true feelings towards Beatrix’s furry friends.

Peter Rabbit hops into theaters Feb. 9, 2018.
