Demi Lovato first wanted to “Give Your Heart a Break,” now she’s having a “Heart Attack.”
The X Factor judge has released a teaser for her upcoming single, titled “Heart Attack.” In the video, Lovato is decked out in dark eye makeup and an edgy leather frock as she poses for the song’s debut photo.
“For a while, I could tell when people talked to me, they knew my story,” she said in the teaser. “I think I’ve opened up more on this album. My life began to evolve and I started to grow.
“These are songs about the celebration of life and how rewarding it can be,” she added.
The 20-year-old’s upcoming album, which will be released this year, will be her first record since 2011.
The songstress also released the cover art for the single, out March 4, seen below.
Lovato’s latest album, Unbroken, heavily documented the singer’s struggles with anorexia, bulimia and self-harm, which landed her in rehab during the 2010 tour with The Jonas Brothers after she had physically assaulted a back-up dancer.
“What happened was I made a huge mistake and I ended up hitting one of my friends who was a back-up dancer,” Lovato said of the incident. “I felt horrible, I wasn’t really in control of my emotions at the time and I was just out of control and there’s no excuse for it. But it definitely showed everyone I needed to get help and I think two days later I was checking into rehab.
“Treatment was so difficult at first, I remember walking around saying, ‘I’m in prison!’”
