What better way to announce your last day on the job than with live TV?
Conveniently for Charlo Greene, her job involves live TV.
Greene, a reporter for KTVA-TV in Anchorage, Alaska, had just finished reporting on the Alaska Cannabis Club during Sunday’s evening broadcast. Then without alerting the crew, she announced she was leaving her job.
“Now everything you heard is why I, the actual owner of the Alaska Cannabis Club, will be dedicating all of my energy toward fighting for freedom and fairness — which begins with legalizing marijuana here in Alaska,” she said on air, before delivering her NSFW sign off.
The Alaska Dispatch News later contacted Greene, who said she “wanted to draw attention to this issue. And the issue is medical marijuana . . . if I offended anyone, I apologize, but I’m not sorry for the choice that I made.”
The news station’s director issued a statement following the broadcast, apologizing for the “inappropriate language used by a KTVA reporter during her live presentation on the air tonight” and noting that Greene “has been terminated.”
