TV Buzz: ‘Pretty Little Liars’ Renewed for Season 4; ‘Once Upon a Time’ Promotes Colin O’Donoghue to Series Regular

On Thursday, ABC Family announced it is giving its hit show, Pretty Little Liars, a fourth season. The new season will consist of 24 one-hour episodes and will begin in mid-2013. Pretty Little Liars’ special Halloween episode will air Tuesday, Oct. 23 at 9 PM with the second part of Season 3 beginning in January of 2013. [ABC Family]

Which fairytale character will be hanging around Once Upon A Time longer than originally planned? 

Captain Hook is in for the long haul on ABC’s Once Upon a Time. The actor who plays the role, Colin O’Donoghue, has officially been upgraded to series regular status prior to the classic Peter Pan character’s first appearance on the show. He will make his debut in the Oct. 21 episode. [EW]

Grammy-winning singer Jill Scott will be making an appearance on Fringe’s final season. Scott has been cast as Simone, “an incredibly intuitive woman, an oracle like person.” She will appear early on the season and be a help to Olivia in some way. The singer/actress will also appear in Lifetime’s remake of Steel Magnolias, which premieres Oct. 7. [EW]

NBC’s Smash is grabbing yet another Broadway star for it’s second season. Joining her Rent co-star Jesse L. Martin, singer/actress Daphne Rubin-Vega, who originated the role of Mimi in the iconic broadway musical, will play a Broadway publicist on the series. Unfortunately she won’t be singing on the NBC show and does not have any scenes with her former co-star. [EW]

Hey country music fans and people who love good television! ABC has made their new pilot Nashville (which premieres Oct. 10) available early online on Hulu. The show, starring Friday Night Lights alum Connie Britton and Heroes star Hayden Panettiere focuses on country star Rayna’s (Britton) fall from the top and her rivalry with country/pop starlet, Juliette (Panettiere). Could HBO’s True Blood have just cast next season’s big bad? Rutger Hauer has signed on as a series regular for Season 6 as Macklyn, an evil man who is somehow connected to the Stackhouses. The sixth season of True Blood premieres in June 2013. [TVLine]

All 13 episodes of Netflix’s Original Series, House of Cards, will be available exclusively on the streaming site on February 1, 2013. The political drama, starring Kevin Spacey, Robin Wright and Kate Mara is based upon the BBC mini series of the same name and takes you behind the scenes of a scandalous Washington D.C. FOX announced Thursday that they are pushing back the Season 2 premiere of Touch to January 2013. The drama’s second season will see Martin (Kiefer Sutherland) and his son Jake (David Mazouz) on the run from the research facility, Aster Corps. The network also announced that all new episodes of the Gordon Ramsey reality show, Kitchen Nightmares, will begin on Friday, Oct. 26 at 8 PM. Season 5 of Kitchen Nightmares will see Ramsay in restaurants in Brooklyn, Boston, Pittsburgh, Los Angeles and Cleveland. [FOX]
